"Hyungs. If this is the case, I think we have a problem."
"What's that?"
"Before you teach him how to cook any dishes, I personally feel like there's one thing you need to teach him how to do."
"Which is?"
"You can't expect Mark hyung not to annihilate our precious ingredients if he doesn't even know how to fry an egg."
"That's true...basics first."
"What do you say, Mark hyung? It literally takes 5 minutes to learn."
"Sure..."
"Do you want to teach him, Donghyuck?"
Haechan rolls up his sleeves. "I'll teach him."
With that said, Haechan marches over to the fridge to collect the necessary ingredients, pumped up for the challenge.
"Look and listen carefully, Mark hyung, because I'm only showing you once."
"How runny do you like your eggs?"

Beautifully cracked!(set: $score to $score + 1)

Mark breaks the egg shells on the table, and cracks the two eggs into the heating, coated pan at a respectful distance, just like Haechan demonstrated, so that on impact the egg yolks don't break. As soon as they hit the pan, opaque areas start forming at the edges and on the bottom of the egg whites.
Now all that's left is to let them cook.

"Now, we wait for them to cook. Do you still remember how long we cook them for?"

(else:)[And splat! Right onto the floor by their feet, nowhere close to where Mark was attempting to catch it with the pan.
The liquid yolk breaks, leaking all over the floor. The cooked whites too lie in a flat disc stuck to the tiles.
"Oops..."
"Wh...What did you just..."
"That's awkward."
"Tell me, hyung." Haechan is beyond words. "What possessed you to do that."
Doyoung and Taeyong, who had just finished their breakfasts, come back to the kitchen to witness the tragedy. When Taeyong sees the crime scene on the floor, he visibly winces and shrinks behind Doyoung.
"My eyes..."
"How on earth did that happen?"
"Mark hyung thought he was Gordon Ramsey and tried to flip the pan."
"Hey, it looks so easy! I just wanted to try it out myself..."
"I don't think you understand the consequences! A chicken died for this!"
"I don't think that's how that--"
"Developer!" Haechan shouts into the camera. "Stop giving this guy useless choices! Just make him follow the instructions and things like this wouldn't happen again!"
Mark has no idea who he's speaking to, or why there are cameras.
"I'll fix it, okay? I'm sorry Donghyuck. I'll start from scratch again and follow your instructions well...I won't try my luck anymore, I'm sorry..."
Haechan lets his rage slowly subside. There are no other options now that the situation has become like this. Haechan recites a mental prayer for the two sacrificed eggs on the floor. Mark is going to learn how to fry an egg today, even if he will have to learn it the hard way.

](align: "=><=")[(set: $score to $score + 1)Mark's eggs are looking good on the plate. Not only are they intact, they are round and beautiful, glistening with oil, perfectly white with no ruptures. The egg yolks are hidden from view from both sides, its contents still a mystery. But Mark has confidence.
No matter how they may turn out, he has managed to fry whole eggs without breaking them or having them stick to the pan.
More importantly, he has managed to learn something valuable from his friends, and spent quality time with them.
Mark is eager to get a taste of victory. But first...

The eggs sit glamourously on the plate. Mark's mouth is watering.
"Congratulations. You did it, hyung."
"I can't believe I finally did it."
Mark is very excited about his creation. It took some hard work, and some trial and error, but he's finally made eggs. He takes the finished plate to find Doyoung and Taeyong in the living room and shows it to his hyungs.
"Wow, Mark."
"I'm proud of you. These eggs would make Gordon Ramsey proud."
"Thank you guys...thanks for offering to teach me. I'll definitely learn something more complicated from you guys some day. For now I'll work on getting this down," he points down at his eggs. This time they turned out well because of Haechan's vigilant watch and constant instructions throughout. Next time he'll have to remember the steps all on his own. Only once he's been able to recreate this dish does he feel satisfied calling himself a certified egg fryer.
Mark takes the eggs back into the kitchen.
It's time to find out how well the yolk cooked.
[[Next->medium10]]Haechan and Mark hover excitedly over the eggs.
Mark cuts across the yolk of the egg.
He slides the knife out carefully, discovering that (if: $undercooked is true)[the egg is undercooked!
While the outsides have solidified, the inside is still runny. He has made the perfect over easy eggs, but didn't quite make the over medium that he loves the most. Maybe if he had left it on the fire or the pan for a little longer?
Still, it is definitely edible, enjoyable, and delicious.
"How did I do, out of 10?"
Haechan thinks for a moment.
"I would say a $score out of 10."
"Aw, I knew it could be better."
"Not bad for a first try, hyung."
"You're right." Mark cuts into his eggs, and takes a forkful to his mouth. Dang, it tastes good. "But I know I can do better if I just try again."
"I won't be helping next time."
"I know. Thanks for helping me, Donghyuck."
"My pleasure."
[[Try again?->medium]] ](if: $cooked is true)[the egg is perfectly cooked!
From the whites, down to the yolks, the eggs are exactly as Mark likes them--over medium, solid enough to bite with no spillage but still gooey on the inside. The yolk is a beautiful gradient of orange. Under Haechan's exact instructions, Mark controlled the fire perfectly.
He's never dreamed of being able to make eggs well, not after multiple on-air disasters with eggs, not to mention make them exactly as he likes. Haechan's instruction is truly incredible.
"Isn't that a lovely ending."
"Thanks a lot for helping me, Donghyuck."
"Not a problem."
"What would you give me, out of 10?"
"I'd give your overall performance a $score out of 10."
(if: $score is < 10)["Oh, that's not bad at all. What's 10 out of 10?"
"When you get on my level."
"I see...looks like I'll be getting a a lot of practice and eating a lot of eggs, ha ha."
"Yeah, you should definitely keep practicing controlling the fire until you can do it by feel."
"Maybe I'll do that. Anyone else want some eggs?"

"Thanks for the praise, Donghyuck. I swear I just got very lucky."

▸Lesson 1
Concerning the matter of eggs
"Hyungs."
At the same time, Doyoung and Taeyong look up from their phones.
"Do you guys have some time right now?"
Doyoung and Taeyong are sitting across from each other at the dining table, scrolling their respective phones in silence. In front of them sits their breakfasts--a bowl of frosted flakes for Doyoung and a muffin for Taeyong--which they're slowly working their way through. It is a rare day off, so both of them had planned on taking it easy in the morning. That is, until Mark appeared, with something visibly on his mind.
Mark rarely asks for favors, so when he approaches like this, Doyoung and Taeyong know it's something serious.
"Yeah, sure. What's up, Mark?"
"I saw this on our bulletin board. Is this poster yours?"
Mark puts down the piece of A4 sized, inkjet printed paper on the table in front of them. Not to their surprise, the paper reads "Cooking with YongYoung!..."
"That is ours, yes."
"So this is real?"
"Yup."
Mark's eyes light up.
"I was thinking...I've been really wanting to learn how to cook. I think it's really lame that I can't, so I wanted to see if I can learn some dishes from you guys. I really have no clue or sense for these things."
It's a surprising request. Never in years would they have thought that Mark would, being already so capable as he is, take problem with his one and only character flaw. But his hyungs are here and ready to be supportive if Mark is truly serious about wanting to better himself.
"We can teach you, for sure."
"Yeah, what do you want to learn?"
